Dr. Anura P. Jayasooriya (Dr. Jayasooriya in shorten) was born in 1967. He attended Royal College, Colombo, Sri Lanka for his primary and secondary education. He obtained his first degree; BVSc from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 1994. Dr. Jayasooriya is an inventor and he obtained two patents for his products while having one product patent pending. He is a presidential award winner for best scientific research in 2014 and he was able to win second and third places under sanitation category and import substitute category at the “Sahasak Nimewum”,National Inventions and Innovations Exhibition in 2012 for the product “Oxifoam” co- invented with Dr.Gamika. The outcomes of most of the research projects carried out by Dr .Jayasooriya in collaboration with Dr. Gamika have been protected as trade secrets and those products are now being marketed by Vetgrow.

Dr. Jayasooriya obtained his Masters Degree in Biochemistry & Nutrition from (research), Miyazaki University, Japan in 2000 and PhD in Nutritional  Biochemistry  &  Physiology  (research) for  Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Melbourne and Howard Florey Institute  of  Experimental  Physiology  &  Medicine,  University  of Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Jayasooriya is a senior lecturer and current head in the Department of Basic Veterinary Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine & Animal Science and the Director of Veterinary Medical Education Unit of the faculty and the Head of the Department of Basic Veterinary Sciences.  He is the Coordinator in Industry based Training Programme for veterinary students and the Coordinator in Animal Nutrition Teaching Program, University of Peradeniya. He works as a member of the Committee for Animal Feed, Sri Lanka Standard Institute (SLSI). He is also a member of Sri Lanka Acupuncture Foundation and Sri Lanka Veterinary and a fellow of Sri Lanka College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Dr. Jayasooriya served as a member of the Board of Management, Lucky Lanka Milk Processing PLC (As an independent non-executive director) from 2014 to 2016. He was a consultant in Nelna Poultry Farms (PVT) Ltd, Sri Lanka as well as a consultant on nutritional matters to the Mawbima Lanka Foundation, (NGO), Sri Lanka in 2009.

Dr. Prathapasinghe A. Gamika (Dr.Gamika in shorten) was born on 2nd March 1971. He attended Thurstan College, Colombo, Sri Lanka for his secondary education. He obtained his first degree; BVSc (Bachelor of Veterinary Science) from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 1998. He is so passionate about animals and this trait of him compelled to be an inventor. During his undergraduate period, he carried out many experiments to introduce new devices for animals which were not available in the market. His experiments succeeded and he was able to introduce 19 inventions to the world. Out of them, 05 inventions have been patented under Sri Lanka National Intellectual Property Office while 03 inventions are pending patents which have been filed.  He was able to win 12 local and international awards for his inventions. These awards includes Presidential Awards (GOLD Award) in Sri Lanka (The highest award for an inventor in Sri Lanka), awards from International Exhibition of Inventions, New Techniques and Products held in GENEVA, Switzerland  three times and an award from International Exhibition of Ideas, Inventions and New Products held in NUREMBERG, Germany 1998.

Later he joined with Dr. Jayasooriya to carry out collaborative research and this synergetic approach resulted in establishment of Vetgrow.

Dr.Gamika obtained his Masters Degree in Biochemistry from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada in 2005 and PhD in Animal Science from St. Boniface General Hospital Research Centre, University of Manitoba, Canada in 2008. He is a senior lecturer in the Department of Livestock and Avian Sciences, Faculty of Livestock, Fisheries and Nutrition, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. He is also a Director of PetsVcare Animal Hospitals, Colombo, Sri Lanka ( which is the leading veterinary care provider in the country, Wayamba University Business Incubation Center and Business Express Company Limited. He is also the member of Editorial Board, Journal of Agricultural Research and Fisheries (JARF) and editor in chief of Wayamba Journal of Animal Science .

He served as a Member of Board of Governors of the University of Vocational Technology (2010 – 2015), Assistant Commissioner of Sri Lanka Inventors Commission (2009 – 2015) and a Member of Mirror Committee on Social Responsibility, Sri Lanka Standards Institute (2009 – 2010).
